A journey from a small town to being in front of a big camera

“In his famous poem “The Road Not Taken”, Robert Frost talks about how a person is compelled to make choices in life. Some people try taking shortcuts to success while others take the longer more arduous route, a journey which has numerous obstacles and where success is never guaranteed. Yet, the journey itself teaches the traveller so much more about life, something far more valuable than the successes. “From a small town in Uzbekistan, I chose the second path,” shares Actress Zara, a Dubai-based Actress and Model.

At a young age, she knew she wanted to be part of the magical world of cinema. Her journey took her to different countries like the United States, Russia, Europe, Asia, etc. Each step presented its challenges and opportunities. Many required hard choices and demanded sacrifices, especially when you are a woman determined to succeed but with dignity. “If you compromise even once in your life, you will carry the burden forever” adds Zara. In this spirit, when Hollywood beckoned, as it does to so many with stars in their eyes, she chose to tread the harder path despite the pitfalls that come with it.

She further continued, “After coming to Dubai. I worked hard as I learnt the finer nuances of my art. I took method acting classes, I tried improving my English and my communication skills by taking advanced public speaking classes. After hours of hard work each week, I slowly started getting offers from the worlds of media, fashion and cinema. Opportunities seldom knock a second time and I accepted with gratitude whatever fit my goals. I don’t know about tomorrow or the day after or after that, all I know is what I have to do today. I have learned well that we should always be conscious of what we want in life and be in the present moment and, enjoy the process while working hard each day. As Confucius is reportedly to have said, Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life

Zara’s path is testimony that hard work and diligence always pays off and one does not necessarily have to be in Hollywood or Bollywood in pursuit of stardom. “Success can be created from anywhere you are and it will take you everywhere you should be, she adds. According to Zara, you don’t have to go to far away lands to accomplish something, you can find your victories where you are. “We just need to be focused and consistent with whatever we do because all the opportunities are actually right here and now” she said. Whilst being a  sought after fashion model and actor,  recently Zara also won the Miss Diversity beauty pageant in Dubai. All this she achieved by following her philosophy; your world is actually all around you.

Someone once said, “Good Judgements lead to good experiences, bad experiences lead to good judgements”. After all, with experience comes increased wisdom and a clearer perspective. With that, Zara gives some advice to aspiring actors and models after all the ups and downs of her career. “Dreams without goals are just dreams. And they ultimately fuel disappointment. Goals are on the road to achievement that cannot be realised without discipline and consistency. In the same way, establishing a professional acting career requires persistence, preparation, and of course a bit of luck.”

It is no wonder that the Middle East has brought forth many successful stars in different fields who exceled in their homeland and the world beyond. Middle East provides countless opportunities for young people in many fields and it is now also so in the emerging entertainment and film industry. Zara is passionately putting in great efforts to take advantage of this incredible opportunity by launching Zara Stars, a film and event production, talent training and artist placement company.

Zara’s own journey from a small town in Uzbekistan to being a successful model and an actress is quintessential of a dream to reality passage. She now wants to help others realise their potential, help them find their star and fly high.
